HOPEWELL, NY – June 14, 2025 – The grim realities of impaired driving were brought into stark focus today at the Steam Pageant Grounds in Hopewell, as a powerful mock DWI motor vehicle crash simulation unfolded before spectators. The event, co-sponsored by The Wilds and Woods Outdoor Show and Finger Lakes Ambulance, aimed to provide a firsthand look at the devastating impact of drunk driving decisions.
The comprehensive simulation involved two vehicles and featured five “patients,” illustrating the potential human cost of impaired driving. The scene quickly evolved into a multi-agency response, showcasing the coordinated efforts of dedicated law enforcement, fire departments, and EMS personnel.
Organizers extended a massive thank you to all participating agencies and staff, whose commitment made the vital demonstration possible. Appreciation was specifically given to The NYS Troopers, Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, Hopewell Fire, Middlesex Fire, Bellona Fire, Penn Yan Ambulance, Mercy Flight Central, and The Wilds and Woods Outdoor Show staff. Their collaborative efforts underscored a shared commitment to community safety and education.
